The variety of hiking in the Pyrenees France and Pyrenees Spain make it a must-go destination for fit and experienced hikers as well as people who just enjoy a good ramble, mountain scenery and fresh air.

With the GR10 stretching across the peaks from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean sea, the Pyrenees can offer experienced and determined hikers challenging terrain and stunning scenery en route.

There’s plenty for leisure walkers and families too, with an incredible range of well-trodden and mapped out circular walks. The¬†variety means¬†everyone from 4 to 84 will find hiking the Pyrenees will match their fitness, experience and scenic preference.

For many, the Pyrenees marks the start of the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage too.

While you can begin El Camino as far away as Paris (a round journey of 3,200km), many hikers attempting the Pilgrimage prefer to begin their journey in St Jean Pied de Port. The small Pyrenean town has risen to the occasion, providing Santiago Pilgrims with a fitting send off for their spiritual or personal El Camino adventure.
